With my husband sleeping in during our annual Christmas week vacation, I find myself alone at the Times Square Starbucks at 7am.  It is packed.  I’m third in a line of dozens of people and a reggaeton song starts playing.  As a long-time bass-a-holic, my body starts dancing and bopping without me realizing it.  I notice the woman in front of me doing the same.  She orders then sees me moving.  Our eyes meet and as the cashier tries to hand me my change, we both start full-blown dancing.  At first, the cashier, still holding my change was like “Okay. What. Exactly. Is Happening?”  But she quickly switches to “Well, alrighty now!” and starts clapping to the beat.  Her co-workers notice and join in and the other customers crowd around to watch.

We laugh as we finish and say Merry Christmas. She joins her friends. I sit down by the window, sip my tea, play with my phone, and text my BFF about the magic that just happened.

About 45 minutes later, I get up and order my husband's breakfast.  Waiting at the counter, I catch myself dancing again, barely aware that Whitney Houston's "I wanna Dance with Somebody" is playing.  And BAM here is this woman again. "I can't let you dance alone to THIS song!"

This time there is singing, others join in, and more clapping and lots of laughter.  As the song finishes, she hugs and thanks me for an awesome Christmas memory. She asks for my name so she can use it when retelling the story.
