My mom has some errands to run downtown, so I ask if I can walk to the 7-11 and then go wait at the library. Sure, no problem. I'm thirteen, I don't need constant watching.

I am sitting outside of the library on a bench, drinking the largest sized Slurpee, when a man approaches me. He gives me very bad vibes.

He asks me what I am doing there all alone, and I tell him my mom is coming to pick me up in a few minutes. He sits down uncomfortably close to me.

I scoot away but he keeps scooting closer. I should get up and go into the library where there  are other people, but I am dumb. I think, "I can't go into the library with my drink, they'll kick me out."

At this point, I am on the very edge of the bench. The man is sitting pressed right up against my side, and he puts his hand on my leg. I don't know what to do.

Then suddenly, I hear a voice say, "Honey, there you are, I've been looking for you!!" A woman I don't know comes and pushes herself in between the man and I on the bench and puts her arm around me.

"This is your mom?" the man asks.

"Yeah, this is my mom. I knew she'd be here soon."

The man gets up and leaves. I tell the woman thank you so much. She kind of tells me off for not being smart enough to get into the library where it was safe. I tell her I would go right then, which I do. When my mom does pick me up ten minutes later, the woman is gone.
